High Performance Program

NEWS Point Academy offers a highly customized soccer training program for high school students, led by our dedicated department. We specialize in enhancing our player development strategy, providing curriculums tailored to different age groups and skill levels. This allows our coaches to systematically, flexibly, and progressively train and improve our players.

At the core of our academy, student-athletes are the primary focus. Our high-performance soccer academy is committed to maximizing both the physical and mental performance of each student enrolled in our accredited grades 9-12 program.

We are dedicated to delivering the finest personalized training and education, ensuring each student has a clear pathway to success. NEWS Point Academy fosters a dynamic learning community that supports, trains, and educates students to excel as champions in their sports and academic pursuits.

Our goal is to provide 16-20 hours of soccer training per week. Assuming the athlete spends about six hours with their club team—including two practices totaling four hours and one game for two hours—this leaves approximately 10-14 hours for soccer activities at NEWS Point Academy.

Physical Testing

HPP administers four globally recognized Physical Tests. These tests adhere to specific criteria, ensuring the collection of precise data. The information gathered during these tests is filtered and presented to staff and players to gain a better understanding of where a player falls physically. While the tests themselves may not be exclusive, what sets us apart is the creation of leaderboards, offering our staff and players additional insights to effectively address strengths and weaknesses.

Max Velocity: Fly 10 Meter

Athletes will start 15 meters away, reach full velocity at the starting point then run through 10 meters for stop time.

Speed: 0-20 Meter Sprint

From a sprint starting position, the players sprint over a distance of 20 meters.

Agility: Arrowhead

This test measures the change of direction and short-distance acceleration of the player in body control and change of direction.

Endurance: SPARQ Version Beep Test

The test is divided into stages. Each stage consists of a pair of 20-meter (66 ft) runs followed by 10 seconds of active recovery.

HPP (High Performance Program) is such a wonderful tool to track and compare our athletes in Fitness Testing, Soccer Education, Hours Tracked, and Games Played. We create Leaderboards to share data connecting our Student-Athletes all over the World.

Mental Performance

By the age of 14, a majority of athletes discontinue their involvement in sports. Frequently, this decision is influenced by their mindset and mental well-being. Our team of Sports Psychologists and High-Performance Coaches provides monthly workshops tailored for groups, as well as one-on-one sessions for individuals facing challenges or seeking tools to navigate difficult situations. These sessions encompass a range of topics, including handling bullying, managing pressure, preventing burnout, exploring passion and purpose, and addressing issues related to anxiety and depression.
